![]() Taras Bulba From a Nikolai Gogol story of the same name. Middle of the 16 century. The great Polish state has entered a golden era of power. The Polish aristocracy is subjugating Ukrainian territory with fire and sword, establishing its order everywhere. All those who refused to submit to Polish domination congregated in the lower Dnepr region, in Zaporizhia Sech. Here, former slaves became masters of the destiny of all their people. Very soon Zaporizhia Sech became a dangerous neighbor for the great empire. And already the Cossacks are preparing for a campaign against Poland. The old Cossack Taras Bulva had two sons. They had no equals in the battles at the walls of besieged Dubna. They were destined to become the pride of the Cossacks. But the younger brother, Andrey, chose a different fate – to disown his father, brother and fatherland and to put on Polish armor for the sake of a beautiful Polish girl. Taras swore to kill the traitor. The elder brother was captured by the Poles and is due to be executed in a Warsaw square. Taras has sworn to be avenged.
